Environmental Health and Safety Issues presents best practices for developing and managing an effective environmental health and safety program. You will learn about the regulatory process and how it affects facilities. Compliance with laws and regulations is a key focus. The course will prepare you to conduct site assessments, analyze risk, and cooperate with compliance audits. The course also guides learners through the planning process to mitigate the risk from any workplace emergency, specifically addressing hazardous materials, air quality, water pollution, asbestos and lead hazards, and tank management. The management of and response to specific indoor environmental quality complaints is also addressed.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Develop and manage an effective environmental health and safety program, integrating sustainable best practices wherever appropriate
  • Ensure that your facilities are in compliance with Federal, state, and local regulatory mandates
  • Assess environmental risk factors and prepare for compliance audits
  • Address emergency environmental health situations through proper planning and incident response
  • Maintain health and safety records in accordance with industry best practices
  • Manage indoor environmental quality complaints related to air, water, mold, radon, asbestos, and other environmental hazards
  • Execute appropriate record keeping, reporting, and other requirements associated with aboveground and underground storage tank regulations
  • Design and implement a waste management program, including recycling and disposal of all forms of waste including landfills waste, hazardous waste, universal, electronic, and tenant-generated waste

ENROLLMENT FEES

There is a $100 enrollment fee for individual courses (those taken separately from a certificate or designation program). If you take an individual course, then decide to enroll in a certificate or designation program, the $100 (USD) fee from your first course (only) may be applied toward the $225 (USD) enrollment fee for your first certificate or designation program. There is a $100 (USD) enrollment fee for students enrolling in a second or third certificate or designation program. Fees are nonrefundable and must be paid with or before enrolling in a course, certificate, or designation program.

There is a $50 fee if you would like a hard copy book.  We are highly recommending you purchase the book as a reference.  The e-books are only available for a 6-month period of time after earning your designation.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Because this is a dynamic industry, specific course requirements are based on date of enrollment. If you are not sure of your particular course requirements, please check with BOMI International.

REFUNDS

A request to cancel registration for an educational class must be submitted via email up to seven (7) calendar days before the class starts in order to receive a 100% refund. The textbook must be returned unopened to BOMA Indiana in all cases where a student cancels registration. Once the book has been opened, $200 will be owed, as BOMA Indiana cannot return an opened book to BOMI International.

COMPUTER-BASED TESTING (CBT)

Exams are administered via Computer-Based Testing (CBT) through our testing provider, Pearson VUE. The registration fee provides for one testing session during the six-month eligibility period, which can be scheduled at the students convenience.  You should receive an email from Pearson VUE within the first few days of class.  If you don't, please tell your instructor right away.

EXAM ELIGIBILITY PERIOD

Students have a six-month eligibility period to schedule and take their exam. For Self-Study students, the eligibility period begins on the date of registration; for Classroom students, the eligibility period begins as of the first day of class. If a student does not take the exam within this period, the student must pay an Exam Administration Fee to begin a new six-month eligibility period.

EXAM ADMINISTRATION FEE (INCLUDES EXAM TRANSFER AND RETEST)

Students who fail an exam or require an additional six months to take the exam will incur an Exam Administration Fee allowing for an additional six-month eligibility period. This fee includes testing and administrative fees and is $100.
